Getting a Reciept
When you buy a pound of flour, you get a reciept, so why shouldn't we get a reciept when we cast a vote? Reciepts are intended to create a 'paper trail' so that transactions can be tracked and proven.
In the same way, vote reciepts give elections officials the ability to verify that the votes counted are the same as the votes cast. Without such reciepts you have no backup if something goes wrong with the computer system. You have to 'just trust' that no hacker has managed to infect or hack into the systems, or -- worse yet -- infiltrated the companies that created the computers.
